Can someone help me interprit the rating stamped on the edge of a piece of 3/8 plywood I just bought?
TECO TESTED 232 PS1-95 EXT AC G1 11/32 MEETS UL REG.
I'm guessing the EXT is extereior and the AC is the outer and inner face quality. 11/32 is the 3/8. I did a search and didn't find anything regarding the meaning of the other stuff.
I'm interested if this will pass the boil test.
Thanks

TECO TESTED 232 PS1-95 EXT AC G1 11/32 MEETS UL REG. Well, I can't help much, but here is something:
1) "TECO" = a testing agency which certifies structural panels, see Teco (http://www.tecotested.com/)
2) "PS1-95" is a certification standard for plywood, see PS1-95 Site (http://ts.nist.gov/ts/htdocs/210/sccg/ps1-95.pdf)
3) "UL" is, of course, Underwriters Laboratories. I think this certifies the level of fire retardancy.
Other stuff ("G1", "232")? I have no idea....

TECO:manufacturer?
Tested 232 PS 1-95: tested to Product Standard 1-95 (whatever that is). Don't know what 232 means. It may be a code number for whoever did the testing or the code number for the Teco mill.
The thing to remember is that the plywood industry has various associations that establish their own standards. Whether they inforce their own rules is open to question.
What you posted is a bit different then the older labels. UL rated? A new one on me. Some plywood associations support the NRB (National Research Board) and stamp the NRB test number that this product is supposed to conform to.

The G1 stands for the group of woods that are used in the panel. Group 1 woods are listed on the website ps1-95.
But that is a C grade panel with one A face, that is nothing you want to use for boat construction.

Further info: "232" is the manufacturer/mill number. See the list at:
"TECO Tested" Client list (http://www.tecotested.com/clients_product_mill.htm)
So, "TECO" is not the mill, you want to read it as "TECO TESTED" + "232", instead of "TECO" + "TESTED 232"

Thanks all,
After some light reading--ER-5637, Standard for structural use panals--PS1-95 means: Highest mechanical properties, designed to be permenatly exposed in outdoor applications. I found a UBL 23-2 which refers to surface finishing standards. The other stuff is still a mystery. I'm using this stuff for a mizzen mast partner on a 17 foot sailboat. It will be in 3 layers, glassed inbetween each one and well sealled in epoxy.
