"I think the pope s***s in the woods"

"He and I did a conversation. I of course was pushing him to run for president. He of course was saying, 'I haven't made up my mind,'" the former President said in a Fox News interview. "I think he wants to be president."
    dubbya speaking about his brother.

    These guys!!!

Hope the Saturday Night Live guys are writing copy for this gag.

I think the Bush boys (including the old man and Babs) should run as a team.

Vulgarity and insult, all in one neat package. Congratulations.

Re: "I think the pope s***s in the woods"

As ever, Barbara Bush is quoted in the link with a voice of reason.
Barbara Bush, the former first lady and wife of the first President George Bush, said in January she hopes "he won't" make a bid for the White House.
"I think this is a great American country, great country, and if we can't find more than two or three families to run for high office, that's silly, because there are great governors and great eligible people to run," the family matriarch said. "And there are other families. I refuse to accept that this great country isn't raising other wonderful people."
That's the best argument I can think of for not having another Clinton in the White House too, to be honest. Or finding another Kennedy. Or here in Canada, running the Trudeau fils. From a marketer's perspective they've already achieved "name recognition," but that says little about their actual capacity.

It risks turning democratic institutions into monarchical ones. While I rather like a Monarchy, I thought most Americans were rather against the idea of Royal Families. And I only like it when the Royal Family really doesn't have actual power - that is, when it's a Constitutional Monarchy. Political dynasties which rule are no more attractive in practice than royal ones, however much they cater to the same rather primal urge.

                For Jamie,
The dubbya says, "I think he wants to be president."

Then Chris plays with this little ditty and comes up with, "I think the pope s***s in the woods". A simple restatement of the obvious.

                It ain't rocket surgery.

According to what I saw this morning, Trudeau would likely be able to carry off a majority if an election was called today and the polls are right. Terrifying thought. Harper is bad but Trudeau could end up being worse. I was never a fan of his father, he was very full of himself.

I liked Trudeau the elder, for all that he was rather too secure in being the smartest kid in the room. But he inevitably was.

Justin? He's not his dad, but he's a far cry from Harper too - for which I give great thanks. Trudeau's government, should he get one, will depend greatly on the quality of people in his Cabinet, and his willingness to find partners for rational policies among other parties.

wrong answer... The statues are gone forever,
but we still have a pope regardless of where he sits.

Do you REALLY see no difference? I hope not.
"They have a lot of stupid people that vote in their primaries. They really do. I'm not really supposed to say that but it's an obvious fact. But when stupid people vote, you know who they nominate? Other stupid people." -- James Carville on the plethora of low-quality GQP candidates in the mid-term election.
