Are you under the impression the US embassy in Baghdad or facilities in Erbil don't need protection as IS/Baathists overtake territory?

Sure, just like the diplomatic compound and the other compound in Benghazi, Libya did. :rolleyes:

I suspect that a number of the 350 are not just general infantrymen, but are military strategists, military advisors, back-of-house chaps etc etc. :ycool:

Here is a little more info.
There will be 405 new troops going to Iraq and 55 will be leaving resulting in a net gain of 350.

Obama Authorizes Sending Additional Troops To Iraq
The Defense Department confirmed that 405 troops will be deployed to Iraq, allowing for 55 military personnel who have been in Iraq since June to redeploy outside of the country and resulting in a net increase of 350 troops on the ground.

You cannot win an argument if you compare the current situation with ISIS to the situation in Benghazi.

Better pack 360 body bags if that all the troops we send , the added 10 are for the helo crew.

No argument on my part, just pointing out that both compounds do/did need defending.

And our PM is offering "Non-lethal military assistance" to Ukraine and setting up an Embassy. Wonder if he'll ask if you guys want to join in?

The count is
100 full time embassy troops who have always been in Iraq.
June 16th Obama authorized another 270
June 26th Obama authorized another 300
June 30th Obama authorized another 200
Sept 2nd Obama authorized another 350 (405-55)
So the total is 1220 troops.
