Looking for info on Wheeler Yacht Co - NY [Archive]

Does anyone have any info on the Wheeler Yacht Company that used to be in business somewhere in NY? I've heard it was in Whitestone, NY.

Were the "personal" yachts they made similar in quality to Chris-craft?

Any info or resource to info wold be appreciated.

Real nice boats Wheelers. I think anyone that knows them would place them at least a notch above C.C. (and C.C.'s of the same vintage were good boats.)

Hikerjimmy...I rode shot gun on a 1958 43' Wheeler
Sportfisherman for 15 years...the owner had it for 19 years...in Boston Harbor...cruised to Florida 4 years ago and sold it (while in Florida, a man came up to him on the dock..said he was a nephew of the Wheelers and had worked on this very boat as a teenager.. smile.gif )...Email me if you want to talk to him by phone. brattle@juno.com.. smile.gif He knows Wheelers.( the Wheeler Yard was in Brooklyn, N.Y. for years..went out of business in mid sixties I guess...) smile.gif
