I just checked in some of my father's old catalogs. In both 1959 and 1979, Merriman did use a trident as their logo in their advertising, but not with the tiny "M". In 1985, Merriman used a completely different logo in their advertising.
The version you showed could very well be the way the company stamped their products years ago, a trident with a tiny "M" in the upper left.
Hope this helps, Anita

Just took another close look at your photo - definitely Merriman. What I mistook for an "M" is just the edges of the tips almost touching. The stamp matches the logo in Merriman's advertising up to around 1980.

Yep, Merriman for sure. I have a couple of old wood (ash) snatch blocks with that same trident logo and they look just like the one in the photo.
I bought them years ago from Paul Luke's yard and they were in with a bunch of other Merriman stuff.

That's what I've got on the turnbuckles I'm slowly polishing up... I was told they were Merriman's.

I think it is an imposter.
Send it to me for further examination.
I'll pay the postage.
