I'm not having any luck finding plywood in the Atlanta area. I'm also going to need some clear lengths of doug fir for a mast any body have any suggestions because I'd rather not order the stuff I would be willing to drive about three hours one way if needed to pick it up myself.
Thanks ...Joe

Try www.southerncrownboatworks.com (http://www.southerncrownboatworks.com) in Atlanta. They told me they make "runs" to Harbor plywood every now and then. Sometimes they even have some in stock.

Yep, that's where I get mine. Th=y price just a bit more than what they pay (really) and sell it by the each as more of an accommodation to customers than anything else. Given there's no minimum, no packing/crating charge or truck freight, its a GOOD buy . My last purchase was a sheet of BS1088 4mm okuome for about $52 as I recall.Real nice folks to and that are stocking Loads of bronze fasteners.

Fot the lumber, Suwannee Hardwood is a good spot for lots of wood species, or try Atlanta Hardwoods-more slelections, higher prices

I have the same question as original poster, but I live near Denver, Colorado....Any ideas where to get okume bs1088? We've tried all the local lumber yards and hardwood shops to no avail. What sort of costs should I expect to pay for shipping approx 8 sheets?

Find wood just about anywhere---> http://www.woodfinder.com/
Do a search under boat builder woods and state for location.
Hope this helps.

I got some nice clear douglas fir from Randall Brothers in downtown Atlanta. Seems to be reasonably priced, but Atlanta Hardwood is better and cheaper for oak, spanish cedar and mahogany.
