View Full Version : Great Deal Alert!
For years, I've been coveting the 4-wheeled platform nursery-type garden carts, with raised sides and pneumatic tire wheels. I haven't been able to justify the $100+ price, plus freight or tax.
I found one at Lowe's. It's made in China, but it's made by Qingdao Taifa Group, who are the world's largest manufacturer of this kind of thing (and probably make the models sold for more by all the garden catalogs). It has fold-down or remove sides and gates, auto-type steering, 5x13 pneumatic tires on wheels with internal ball-bearing hubs. It comes with 2 utility trays, one for tools and one for small flats of plants. It's capacity is listed on the box as 1,200#, but the instructions say 1,500#. It's all steel, and powder-painted yellow. It's $69.95!
I brought one home 30 minutes ago. A scant half-hour of easy wrenching assembled it, and it's ready to roll. I must say that I'm impressed. At the price, I expected to have to settle for poor fit and finish, but it's very nicely made. All the painting was well done, and it survived shipping intact. I'll probably replace the bolts and other hardware with SS next year, but, all-in-all, it's a real bargain.

With the sides and gates up, it's 47 1/2" x 23 1/2" x 12 1/2" deep. The 2' x 4' deck is 13" off the ground. The sides and gates lock in the up position, and any of them can be folded straight down on hinges, with quick-release locks. With a little more effort (pulling 8 hinge pins) you can remove them entirely. The deck is steel mesh, like the sides and gates, and heavily reinforced.
It even comes with a lawn-tractor trailer hitch to replace the pull-arm.
