It's long-strand dacron tow, laid flat and waxed so that it looks like sinew.

West Marine carries it as well.

Thank's for the info.

I plan to use it for a skin on frame kayak. I haven't picked the design yet.

For our confused Aussie friends. Since we have no frontier in America anymore, and since our psychology is intimately tied to it, there are a bunch of people who refuse to surrender it. They do all manner of "reenactments" of the frontier days, including making bows, sewing moccasins etc. I'm assuming that's why one would want artificial sinew, but it's really just a guess. And for kayak skins!

And hey, more power to them. I live half my life in fantasy, so I can relate. ;)

Artificial sinew? Next thing we know they'll be looking for some new fangled glue to stitch boats together. Where will it all end?

Real boats are hewn from the log with stone tools. All else is heresy.

Many better fishing and tackle stores carry it in stock. It is used for rigging troling baits. It is also used to hold outrigger eyes on for years on end without failing.
