I'm in search of a extra long shaft motor. Motor would go in an inboard well and the measurement from the top of the well to the bottom of the hull is 25 inches so a regular long shaft is to short. I only need 5 to 10 h.p. and definately want four stroke.
Several people tell me that most outboards can be adapted with an extension of some kind but in speaking to Honda, Yamaha, Mercury they say no.
Yamaha builds an eight horse high thrust motor that is extra long shaft which would be perfect but it won't fit in the well. May have to rebuild the well unless some of you good folks have any ideas.
Thanks,
Dave

In the past there's been some long shaft OBs built specifically for sailboats. Chrysler and Volvo I think are a couple of names. Just a idea, but maybe they will have the length you need.
