Texas is new home for hybrids

Toyota is moving its North American headquarters from California to Plano, Texas. Where is Plano, anyway? And what is it like? Will California yuppies find peace there?

North of Dallas.Closer to Mexican labour from across the border I expect. Best of both worlds, US commercial law and cheaper labour.
Of course I may be wrong…………………… fair distance from the border. Maybe the county offered them a good deal.

Plano is in the armpit of Texas, Dallas/Ft Worthless area. Nice to see Perry "creating new jobs" for Americans. Maybe when he's President everybody can move to Texas.

Wasn't Texas one of the states 'outlawing' direct to consumer sales of Teslas? Gotta feed the machine!
There's a lot of things they didn't tell me when I signed on with this outfit....

This is the design, management, engineering center for the Western Hemisphere--staffing it with Mexican illegals would be interesting.

May have to encourage wife to consider alternative to Camry. I don't support corporations who move to Texas.

You sure it's not their recall centre? Seems evert Toyota for the last 15 years is being recalled here.

Actually Plano is a very upscale suburb of Dallas. Lots of high end homes, restaurants and shopping. The CA yuppies will like it.

                  Texas is paying $1000/job.
                  Life is complex.

Re: Texas is new home for hybrids

Texas juries are known to be more conservative and sympathetic to corporations. it should work out for Toyota when the death and damage of their unstoppable acceleration defects of there cars start going to trial.
May backfire as capital punishment is dealt with in a more liberal manner there.
Without friends none of this is possible.

Texas seems to be a favorite of Japanese companies and they do well there. I don't quite get it.

Anyone here see the real problem, California. Good for Texas.

Most states outlaw direct consumer sales of car. A few have written special exceptions for Tesla.

Sure, moving jobs between states is not creating jobs and is not good for the country.

A little research shows Plano may be the wealthiest city in the U.S. per capita.
