BS1088 Akoume is about half price in Seattle as it is in Canada (after exchange) This is about a 3 hr drive each way; is it worth the exercise and can I bring it across the line with out duty, we're talkin about a dozen sheets of mostly 3/8, so its real coin.

Only the tax man knows. And you might be liable for B.C. Gouge & Screw Tax. I wonder what the duty free limit per person is for plywood? Take a bunch of folks and everyone gets a sheet in duty free. Still, I doubt that the tax would eat up all of the half price difference. 3 hours away is nothing.

It used to be—don't know if it still is,tho—duty-free.

Lumber was classed as a duty-free "industrial raw material".

Generally NAFTA only applies to products made in Canada, the US, and Mexico so if the plywood is manufactured elsewhere there may be duty assessed. In any case you will be required to pay both the GST and PST. Try calling the CCRA at 1-800-461-9999.

Gert, where in Seattle are you buying the plywood? What prices are you paying? (if you don't mind my asking) I'm in Victoria and it sounds like it might be worth my while to do the same thing as I have to buy at least another 4 or 5 sheets to finish my project.
