Which diameter would you pick the three steel shrouds that will hold my 4 meter (13'4") high, 4,5 cm (1-4/5" ?) large mast ?
Canvas averaging 5 square meters (I give up converting this !).
One at the bow, two at the sides a bit aft the mast.
33° centigrade in shop today. This means about 90 degrees in Fahrenheit, if I'm right !
Making sawdust, though !
Woohoo !

Forward! Into the past!
A lot of hot shot dinghies are rigged with technora, spectra or vectran (http://www.neropes.com/pleasure_marine/default.htm) line for shrouds and rigging them with deadeyes. Lighter weight, less windage.

Lighter weight, less windage AND a heck of a lot easier on one's hands if one needs to grab one and hold on. Strong as wire, too

Very strong too! I think that we use 5/32 for a backstay on a J-109 which is a 35ft Racing sailboat that carries a huge asymetrical Spin.
It doesn't last that long though. If in constant sun I would only give them 5-6 years.
