One of my boating friends gave me 45 pound chunk of lignum vitae -200 years old- the catch is that i must make him a wooden double action cork screw.
The wood part is straight forward enough but i have no idea as to where i can find a suitable metal worm i e the cork extacting bit .
I dont want to have to fabricate it my self as the effort in volved machine ing ect tempering ect the metal might make the project un feasable.

Any one know where i might find a supplier of corkscrew worms?

Go to the mall and look for one of those stores that sells all the kitchen utensils. Should be quite a choice for very little money. Whack off the plastic handle, and voila' !

(GRUMP) After a discussion of my typing prowress, I find myself editing.

Oh. And for a really BIG corkscrew, go the the pet supply store and get one of the doohickeys that screw into the ground to attach the dog's chain to.

Best worms that I know of are those in the ScrewPull products; correctly pitched, sharp, and Teflon coated. You'd probably have to buy one of them and manage to take it apart.

Cat carrier. LOL !

The instructions say to duct tape the cat first so it doesn't split.

Ya know...having had a few cats myself [well...been owned by...]...it might stop the hair-shedding problems [and the attendant hairballs]. That's a great idea!

Why be conventional? Design your own combination air powered corkscrew/cat carrier. Think like "Tim the Toolman Taylor" and go for the power. I'd say about 3,000 psi ought to pop that cork.....
