Years ago, my daughter was bitten by a dog. Now we're arguing about the breed.

It was a pure bred. It was low to the ground and long, about 30 - 40 pounds, had a face not unlike a Scottie or Schnauzer.
Longish wiry hair, black to gray.

Any ideas?

Prince Albert rat terrier.

Could be a Wirehaired Daschund, but 30-40# would be an unusually large one.

Skye terrior.

Spelling alert!!

In this case, I think it would be Skye Terror... no?

Skyes were bred to mop floors, do they even have teeth?

The Skye is the right size, and low/long, but they don't really have the face of a Scotty or Schnauzer.

That can depend on how they're groomed and trimmed. Kept in a short coat they can look very similar to a Scotty

Yeah...shave him bald and paint him green, and he'd look like Kermit.

Also look at a Cairn Terrier.
