    Dungeness deficiency anxiety

This year for the first time I remember, there is no Dungeness crabbing winter season in central Puget Sound. Yet for the last few days I'm forced to watch the First Nations people going out to set their commercial pots on my favorite grounds. They have the right I guess, but my martini is sorely missing its delicate accompaniment right now.

It would make more sense if the First Nations people truly lived apart from the white world, but the truth is they don't. I've got as much white guilt as the next guy, but it seems to me to be motivated by little more than that.

I need to stress that the intent of this thread was to bemoan my lack of crab, nothing more.

A lack of crab is intolerable. Unless you live where the mighty lobsters roam free.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

That's not a bad idea at all. You could take Snoose for the putt and offer some dough for some dunggies. I offered to buy some salmon on my way out the locks in BETTY-B once, and they gave it to me for free.

Actually not a bad thought at all. Right now it is dark and blowing like stink, perhaps a bit late for tonight's martini, but maybe tomorrow...

(plus one drink puts Snoose's bridge off limits. )

Heh. And under no circumstances should you be caught "in possession", shelled or not, unless you have a receipt.

It's a treaty right. The white buggers got the land and the tribal buggers got the crabs.

                          Typical.

I guess if you were mates with some of the locals you could ask them round for cocktails, and hope they bring crab with them....
