OK I don't know if this should be in the misc. section but it is a source. My new tenant above the barn is an herbalist in town. Now before ya start chiding me I'm totally not an herbalist medicine guy at all. But I got Lyme DISEASE last year and own 2 dogs that get ticks all over. I live in Lyme Disease center of the universe. When I mentioned this to my new tenant she was all over it she had been a head gardener for some big public gardens and has had Lyme 8 TIMES !!!! She gave me a bottle of this concoction Rose Geranium Tick Repellent. I have used Front line on my dogs and just finished picking off 20 ticks off of him in the last week. So I had nothing to loose so I sprayed the dog all over. He smelled like a French Whore House but its been a full week and not ONE tick on the dog it works so good guess what I smell like a French whore now myself. She has a web site lots of weird alternative medicine stuff even belly dancing but I have to say this tick repellent WORKS !!! http://www.ladybarbara.net/

I think we're losing Joe to Josephine. First the dress, now perfume, next he's a belly dancer. Don't get me wrong Joe, we love you the way you are and we'll love you any way you want to be, but I, for one, will miss our old Cold Spring Joe. :(

:D :D

I'll throw something in here that is kinda of realeted.

I've been in and out of the woods my entire life and have tried most of the over the counter bug repplants out there and none of the work that great.

In 1986 while going through a school in Texas one of my instructors gave us some advice on what to use and I've used it to this day. Now keep in
mind nothing works 100%, but this works the best.

Before going into the woods I will use Dennorx shampoo to wash my entire body. I will do this starting 2 or 3 days prior to going in the woods and I will use every chance I get while in the woods. Use this in place of regular soap and it will reduce the number of bug bites drasticlly.

If you don't believe me just take a good long smell of Dennorx. It will just about knock you off of your feet. It kinda acts like a nerve agent and the bugs can't stand it.

Locally, Avon's Skin So Soft has been recommended for insect repellent for years. Urban lagend has it that the Marines at Camp Lejeune buy it by the drum This year Avon has even been promoting it with a couple of jingles about bugs and ticks.
There may be ticks on some of you chicks, but there ain't to ticks on us.
It, too, smells like a French whorehouse on Christmas morning.

Skin so soft SUX In the summer I use DEET the only thing that works and I don't mind the second head growing on my shoulder:).

Side note the stray dog we found a home for went to the vet yesterday and yup he had Lyme. I'm Telling you guys I live in the center of the universe for Lyme. We just pulled one off my daughter yesterday a big juicy on off the back of her neck just above the hairline. Guess what she smells just like me & the dogs now
