I see a Steven King novel in this...

Ghost Rat Ship Threatens U.K.So much for rats being the first to leave a ship. The Lyubov Orlova cruise liner is about to make land on Britain's shore carrying nothing but disease-ridden rats who are presumably eating each other to stay alive. The ship has been drifting across the Atlantic for about a year since it was abandoned in a Canadian harbor after its owners failed to pay the crew. A salvage hunter says he'll poison the entire ship if he finds it. Meanwhile, the Irish coastguard warns: "We must stay vigilant."

Read it at The Independent (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/mystery-of-the-lyubov-orlova-ghost-ship-full-of-cannibal-rats-could-be-heading-for-british-coast-9080103.html)

She sank last year.

If that is correct then shame on the Independent for publishing such twaddle. Also, the article is distinctly tabloid, which is disappointing.

Reported as "probably sunk" (http://www.irishexaminer.com/archives/2013/0301/world/drifting-russian-ship-may-have-sunk-700-miles-off-coast-224124.html) in March. 10 months is long time in a cannibal rat colony........especially if it's submerged.

The Canadian Navy were standing by the boats in refit. If they were not content with what they were sighing off during the process, you have to ask yourself why they accepted the boats.

I am sorry I thought you were joking with your earlier statement.
My post about getting back at the UK for the junk submarines was just a joke.

Fairy nuff. :D

It would seem that the boats have suffered from the effects of being operated by crews who had not run a submarine for ten years, and came from a class with WWII technology into boats with late 20th C technology.
Unfortunately lives were put at risk and lost due to some bad judgement by the officers.
