Sometimes the officials who sanction these events really do pull a head scratcher. Like running the World Cup in Qatar, where ( during the traditional summertime schedule ) it is so freaking hot that now, with some afterthought, they are thinking of changing it to the winter so as to have bearable temperatures.

Don't know why they scheduled it there in the first place.

And yet still one of the only Olympics where a spectator was killed.

Atlanta isn't really known to be the safest place. I feel far safer in NY or Boston.

When a local promoter, Bob Walsh, tried to get local backing for a Seattle Olympics bid, he was almost lynched from the Space Needle. In a press conference huff he stated that Seattle would never be a World Class City.
