So' I'm now in possession of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablet. I downloaded an app called the "swiss army knife" and now the little screen can be a calculator, measurement translator, ruler, mirror, flashlight, and even a bubble level....kind of handy....what else would a guitar playing, woodworking, woodenboat junkie want or need to cram into this little flat box?

Evernote.
Write a note to self.
Take a pic
save a webpage
and lots of other stuff and what ever you've saved in Evernote will also be saved on your tablet, laptop, and phone at the same time.

I often will take a pic of an item in a store with my phone, and soon as I'm home I can research and get reviews and descriptions.
If I read an interesting book review, I can note the title on my tablet, and bring it up on my phone when I'm at the library or bookstore.

Some schools are making Evernote part of their mandated school supplies.

There's a free version and a "pro". I use the freebie.

NZ Tide Times
NZ Met Service
Auckland Transport (bus and ferry real arrival times per bus stop / ferry terminal)
Cam Scanner (turns whiteboard photos into pdf email attachments and does a bit of cleanup on the image while it's at it)
ForumRunner (for occasionally reading this, but I don't think I've ever posted from the phone, too much room for error with autocorrect)

Current addictive game of choice is Hill Climb Racer, but I use a freeby Sudoku app to waste 5 minutes here and there too.

Need to check out Evernote, the boss raves about it.

I play Go on my phone. I'm no good, but only I (and probably some minion at Apple) know that.

I got one of those bluetooth keyboards for my iPad this Christmas. Pretty handy in certain situations. Works great.
