OK so it is not the most accurate, but consider it a bit of fun.

As for me (perceived on this forum as slightly right of Atilla the Hun :ycool: ) I'm :

Looks like I'm a left leaning Libertarian. Sounds like the proverbial cat with a slice of buttered bread tied to it's back to me.

long way left. But I knew that anyway

If this was structured from a European/Uk perspective, I'd be further to the centre.

Nah, RP, you're not to the right of Atilla at all, and I think where you came out is pretty accurate. Me too, as far as it goes.

I was pleasantly surprised that despite the rather obvious libertarian bias of the questions, the end result appears about fair.

I too am a left leaning libertarian. As RP says, possibly not the most accurate method ever developed. ;) IIRC, a few years back there was a similar one to this that went into quite a bit more depth. Hmmm... I was a left leaning libertarian on that one too. Maybe there's a pattern?

No surprise. I am indeed a proud liberal.

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 70%Your ECONOMICS issues Score is 10%This quiz has been taken 20,536,363 timesAccording to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...
LEFT (LIBERAL)
Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

It's BS. It tagged me as a statist. I am a liberal. I would want to discuss or otherwise qualify or narrow some of the questions.

OK...

Jim Mahan

So I re-took the damn thing, twice. Trying to second guess the reservations I had for qualifying the questions, it called me a statist again, even more to the right. Once more, this time pretending that I had no reservations. This time I got libertarian leaning liberal.
Laws pertaining to adult consensual sex. Yeah, no sex with minors, no sex in public, no sex that involves violence or danger, no spousal rape.
I disagree that govt should be arbitrarily smaller or that our tax burden be arbitrarily smaller.
I think pot should be as legal as it now is in two states, in all states.
I have the radical idea that we should actually draft all voting age citizens for at least a years service, not just for military duty, but also, as an alternative, into service as police, fire or other, like forest service, etc.
My opinion is that almost all govt regulations have been instituted as an answer to some problem caused by some minority, selfish, greedy special interest; there should probably be more regulation, not less. Certainly we should re-instate everything the Bushophiles rescinded.
I've prolly missed something, but what does all that make me. Am I not a lefty, liberal?

It tagged me as a statist. I am a liberal. That's because it was designed by Libertarians, and they think almost everybody who doesn't agree with them is a statist.

It says I'd be a Liberal Democrat in the UK; center-right, yes? Well, before their coalition with the Tories, anyway.

A rather bizarre test but the results are reasonably close - I'll not quibble..

It appears you are 'over thinking' things. Remember, this is a libertarian 'inspired' test - try coming at it like you are a 9 year old boy.. everything's simplistic, dontchaknow?! ;-)

That is a really bad quiz.
The questions are impossible to answer in absolute terms so most answers need to be maybe.

Examples:

Government should not censor speech, press, media, or internet.
I would agree with this except for hate, libel, slander and real national security (protecting the names of people that could be impacted by the release), so maybe.

There should be no laws regarding sex for consenting adults.
I would agree but there does need to be a law that defines what consenting adults are, so maybe.

I am considered a raving liberal Democrat in the U.S. But I suspect the two are not the same.

You need ACB to answer that. I am not sure what the Liberal Democrats are really for now. One of the socialist grandees opined that the Liberals lost their purpose after they won the vote for the middle classes.

More right of centre, but moderate right. My problem with placing the Libs is that they don't seem to sit on the left right axis, but off to the side somehow.

I rather liked their definition of "Liberal"

Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

I'd say sign me up, but they already pigeon holed me as one.

There is a longer version of this quiz too. I still ended up on the "liberal" end of the spectrum.
