What celebrities / entertainers do you consider to have any political credibility? Passionate enough about a cause or causes that they put their time, energy and money into the researching of all sides of the issue before they take it on and allow their name to be associated with it. The three that come to mind for me are:
1. Neil Young
2. Bruce Cockburn
3. Chris DeBurgh

(I don't happen to flat out agree with everything they have to say about their issues, but I respect their passion and points of view.)

The only thing most celebs really think about are; the next marriage, the next divorce, the next baby, their boobs, and partying etc.

Yet, Neil Young has thrown his weight behind those criminals you despise called 'Greenpeace'.

He is introducing the Greenpeace documentary 'Petropolis', about the tarsands, at his public appearances.

The only thing most celebs really think about are; the next marriage, the next divorce, the next baby, their boobs, and partying etc. There are thousands of celebrities who can speak with authority about charities, politics, and social issues that interest them. The ones who are truly successful are often accomplished, driven individuals who are concerned about their communities, countries, and the world. For some of them giving of their time and resources is second nature.

I admired Paul Newman's approach.
I found it more preferable than the way Bono, Sting, Bruce Willis, etc go about it.

And then there are people like Alec Baldwin who I'm convinced does more harm than good. I cringe every time he opens his mouth.

It is extremely weird that you seem to think you know how I feel about the Greenpeace organization. I do not think Greenpeace is criminal nor do I despise the organization.

Greenpeace sometimes endorses some of it's members to pull some stupid stunts at times (including breaking laws) that in my opinion do no good for the cause. Greenpeace also does some good work like mounting legal challenges and the documentary you referenced. I haven't seen it yet but will assume for now that it is credible. Sadly (IMO) when they pull dumb stunts it makes it hard to take them seriously with the good stuff they do and most people tune out.

High marks to Neil Young for his public support and funding of legal action for the Denésoliné/Chipewyan people (I don't think they'll have much success in the courts, alas). Some of the others mentioned (Bono, Sting, Sineád O'Connor, George Clooney, Sean Penn) seem to risk their celebrity for issues they care about. Angelina Jolie has done work on genocide, refugees, and trafficking. So has Ashley Judd.

Ted Nugent is big on guns and meat. Are the Koch Brothers celebrities? Or servants of the Dark Lord?

I their credibility is directly related to how well informed they are. Remember Britney Spears?

How about that porn star turned politician in Italy several years ago? That about summed up my opinion of all politicians: they're all willing to "F" somebody, as long as they get paid for it.

I couldn't care less about 'celebrities', I'd like to find a few politicians with 'cred' myself. Few and far between, and even fewer with any influence.
