I am going to restore one last project (I have restored 5 wooden boats ranging from 12' to 38'), and I am looking to save a large power yacht/ship/boat/shrimper. I am looking for something in the 40'-60' range.(my slip is 60'). This project will be restored over the next 15-20 years, and I am planning to give it/leave it, to my son in a trust, after I "slip the mortal coil". I would prefer something in the gulf coast region(hence a shrimper), but I am open to location if it is something interesting.(older Presidential yacht for free, or something with history, for free). My budget to acquire her is up to $10,000, but I would prefer a gratis/free boat that needs to be saved. I am willing to look at anything larger than 60', but it make take me a little while to come get something larger than that.(I would have to find somewhere to put her first.)

I am more than willing to look at anything out there that needs to be rescued. Contact me at cortez at ot3tech dot com, and thanks in advance

How would you like to restore the third PT boat ever made? Its at my boatyard, I have a clear title to it, and I will give it to you as long as you have it moved out of the boatyard. I would love to see it saved. there are pictures of it in its current state at the link above. If someone doesn't take it soon I am going to start cutting it up and putting it in a dumpster. You can reach me by email at email@flaniganbros.com

If you haven't already done so, take a look at the Save a Classic listings http://www.woodenboat.com/save-a-classic also take a look at Bone Yard Boats http://www.boneyardboats.com/ Might be something there to restore...
"Shade of Knucklehead" might want to list the PT boat w/Bone Yard Boats.

I have a subscription to boneyard boat, but I haven't checked save a classic in a while. Thanks for reminding me.

My Uncle served on RCAF Bras D'or (PT-3) out of North Sydney Harbour (Nova Scotia) during WW2. She was used as a fast rescue boat.

Great link about your historic craft! I sure hope someone (cortezmoore?) takes her home for a restoration.

Thanks for that PT3 post.
I understand how boats get in that condition but still sad to see. It looks beyond the "cheaper to build a new one" stage, but, what history!

For FLAME, a Dunham clipper bow ketch featured in "Save a Classic" July/August WoodenBoat. She might suit. Mike Wick

This thread would be seen by more people if you relocated it to down to Misc. Boat

I am looking at it, and considering it. The history behind it makes it worth saving.

Do a Google search for "shrimp trawlers for sale." For some reason, I see a bunch of Southeastern shrimp trawlers at www.boatsandcycles.com. I don't see them on the usual sites, such boat.com or yacht world.com
