So... what's your fantasy car from this year's crop? Maybe a VW 'Dune'? Or The Platinum edition of the Cayenne?

I'll wait for next year's z06. . .

Some people's taste is all in their mouf. I guess I shouldn't talk, though. My fantasy vehicle lately is a diesel.

It's a hot ride. I was blown away by the one I saw last month.

that silver one though... the reflectors at the wheelwells really kills it.

Maybe if the car were the same orange as the forward reflector, then the aft reflector would look like a cool accent?

Yeah, that's when I'll buy one. :D

ugh. If you're going with the black roof, why do the little orange strip forward from the C-pillar?

blech. I'm over it. I don't want one anymore.
Back to boats.

Which one? Decades ago I dreamed up a long wheelbase Golf for carrying kayaks. Low roof for ease of lifting and long wheelbase for backseat room changing. Then it was a Vanagon with a modern high output diesel. Then it was a Sprinter van as mobile home. I think a Honda Odyssey with turbo diesel would be dynamite. Comfortable light towing capacity, decent aerodynamic package.

I crossed paths the other day with a Mini Paceman. White with black. It might just be my new favorite, eclipsing the Volvo C30.

Of course I'm probably too old for either.
I was addressed as "you old c***" the other night, which may make it official.

Porsche Cayenne diesel (hides his head in shame). I used to race fiats & alfas... but these days, capacity, comfort, and towing power are just as important as speed and handling (or maybe more important).

Porsche? With a VW engine in it? Makes sense I suppose. Here the price difference between the Cayenne and the VW Touaroreaeg is $30,000...possibly enough to fuel and maintain the VW for 10 years.

Anyway, dream a little dream (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Land_Cruiser#70_Series).......:).......$60, 000 cheaper than the VW.

And yet the VW gets mixed reviews, while the Porsche is getting rave reviews. And, since it's just fantasy, I much prefer the P styling... and P handling.

They'll always be a warm spot in my heart for the Splitty, I had a '65. Bought it for $200, fixed a bad wheel cylinder, threw my Force 5 up on the roof and left NNY for Florida. It got me there and back again.

That new Beetle Dune is pretty sweet though!

I like the New New Beetle anyway, it's got a bit of 356 DNA in it I think.

I loved my ex's (new)beetle, and that one looks like they haven't messed it up enough to change my mind.

I've read a couple of unkind reviews, though, so maybe it's better in photos than in reality.

Looks like Ford finally figured out one critical element...... Aluminum F150s.
Now let's see if they can figure out how to keep the springs from rusting off before the gas tank rots out.

IIRC, the Porsche always has the hydropneumatic suspension whereas that is an expensive extra on the Touareg - at least in Germany. There are other differences as well for sure.

I turned down a free place at B.M.C. design dept in 1958.
I realised at 15 that you cannot judge the looks of a car until it is at least a 5 year old design.
That's maybe, why I drive a 34 year old car for 8 months of the year. Clive P
