When you come to the Bilge and see an interesting thread title that already has 57 responses, how many of them do you actually read?
I usually last about ten or so. There seems to be a threshold where the original topic is no longer in discussion, having been replaced with mildly insulting comments about attitudes, spelling, political leanings, etc.
Is there something like the old BASIC 'GO TO' command that will route commenters back to the original topic?

I have always thought that the original post (or a link to the original post) should always be visible on the thread. On each page of a multi-page thread, the top post should be the original post. JYHO

I check the bilge out nearly every day, it is unusual for a thread that I am interested in to that far ahead of me.
The ones that catch me are those where some newby has replied to a 2009 thread.
