I have updated the restoration log for Katarina. Included in update is the rebuild of the stern, cabinside, setting up bulwarks and stanchions, planking and lining off, and lots of pix.

Pages 6,7,8 are new...and I cleaned up the other pages for better dial-up connections.

By jasus Bruce, that's one strong boat. Really good, strong, true job on restoring her too. Even on dialup, I had to read every page. ;)

Thanks, good to hear someone thinks its a job worth the time and blood :D My body is a bit tired of the heavy and a bit tough working Black Locust...but not too tired to give up strenght and rot resistance.

I am now trying to keep the weight down on the non-strength needed parts. So just ordered a load of Atlantic White Cedar---covering boards, bulwark planks, etc. From Wood, Steel and Glas Inc in Madison CT---great place! The son (Klaas)of the outfit reclaims timber from factories, etc--has great Yellow Pine.

Cheers, Bruce

Truly is an inspiration to see the care you're taking to do it right. Well done.

Wade Smith and Richard Fewtrell also need big bonus points. Wade is planking and Richard and I are on the floors and cabinside. I am doing the deck, stern, engine, bulwarks---well all the rest.

Just cleaned up all the frame ends, clamp, beam ends, etc exposed by the removed sheer. Clamp is double layered double thick 6" X 3"---total is 12"X 6+."

Katarina was know as the rough weather Picket Boat on Long Island---once had 30 people on board for "patrol."

Anyone know the noise vibration load of a 68hp 4-cyl Perkins---its what's going in.

I love this boat. smile.gif
