This is the siphon hose for siphoning water from the pool cover. I loop it up by the wire winder that tightens the cover onto the pool and let it run. This leave me a "loop" of water that allows me to restart the siphon without having to put the hose in my mouth and suck.

I noticed today that between the hose and the ground is a solid ice. You'll not the exit end of the hose is just a few inches below the little winch. From there to the ground a solid column of ice. I thought that was pretty cool.

Some moving water ice takes some strange shapes. When plowing a dead end road years ago I came across what looked like a frozen fountain about 12 feet high. Thinking it was a broken water pipe I contacted public works and they said it was a pressure relief valve.

What makes this interesting is it has been below freezing here, but I didn't think it was THAT cold for the moving water to freeze. It will be interesting, when it thaws, to see if it continues running.
