I know this store and have been in it many times. we didn't have THAT much snow but it's an old building which has been remodeled a zillion times. an important business as it's the main economy for this little town and everyone is inside nearly every day... I hope they rebuild

right on the Ark/Missouri border, serving both sides of the border

Even up here we have the occasional roof overload, but usually something considerably larger like a school assembly hall built by the lowest bidder and maybe shorting on materials. This is a rather small span to have a problem.

A foot of snow is a lot of snow for a flat roof. Especially if it's wet snow, not powder. 15-20 lbs/cu ft is not unheard of.

they may have had several inches of sleet under that snow...

Heavy snow collapsed some pier roofs a few years ago in the Seattle area, damaging many boats and sinking at least one, IIRC.
