I am going to try making a water-based antifouling paint using latex primer laced with copper powder I bought from Progressive Epoxy.
It takes me so damn long to get something done these days that I am tossing out the idea in the hope that one of you youngsters will give it a try before I get to it.
I plan to fiberglass-epoxy some pieces of wood to keep the worms out and then paint them with latex primer loaded with as much copper powder as seems to be supported.
Then I will moor them out in Pages Creek in front of the house. It doesn't take barnacles long to grow there.
The homemade 1gal/stroke PVC bilgepump that floated out of the 20-year old ¼" plywood utility skiff three weeks ago when the skiff caught under the pier and swamped in a spring tide already had barnacles well established on it when my young roommate, Kemp, found it yesterday afternoon.
