A Thank You and an Apology
I want to thank those that expressed their concern for me and their friendship to me and a desire for me to return to the forum, both publicly and privately. This place can be a powerful source of community and friendship, both virtually and in real life. I value the relationships that I have made here, relationships that scot and Woodenboat have fostered regardless of geography and distance. It can also be at times an incredibly infuriating and frustrating venue. That Ian got under my skin, as deeply as he did is in large part because he has been and I’m quite sure will continue to be an important member of and contributor to this community. No mere troll would have received near as much emotional energy from me as I expended on Ian. For my part I want to apologize for my ugliness towards the man and hope he forgives my transgressions. And, I want to apologize to scot and to the forum in general for my adding to the rancor here unnecessarily.Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.Tags: None -

Re: A Thank You and an Apology
An excellent post with which to enter jolly season.
I'd like to think we here are all friends who just happen to hold differing opinions.
If we all agreed on everything, the world would be a bit dull. Better maybe, but certainly dull."Banning books in spite of the 1st amendment, but refusing to regulate guns in spite of "well regulated militia' being in the 2nd amendment makes no sense. Can't think of anyone ever shot by a book

Re: A Thank You and an Apology
Welcome back Paul.
It's so nice to read your words.
You were the first person I considered to be a friend here and Ian was the second.
No wonder I'm f****d up!
I took some time off this weekend to think about things and returned with the idea of conducting myself in a less confrontational manner.
It seems several other people are having a similar epiphany.
I am encouraged by Keith's thread and the recent civility that seems to be spreading as a result and am inspired by your forthrightness and courage.
Please forgive me for ever referring to you as "nuthin' but a NASCAR fan".

We could all take a lesson. For my money, you are one of the most interesting people here."Where you live in the world should not determine whether you live in the world." - Bono
