Is there anyone out there in the Boston/Hingham/Hull area who might help with rigging a 1957 catboat? I've got the boat & all the rigging, but don't have the person who I thought would help put what belongs where. The boat at a boatyard in Hull & I plan to put her in the water to learn a bit about gaff rig sailing in October and also help figure out what work needs to be done over the winter. Anyone know anyone? Would be willing to pay something, not too much, budget's already strained.
Thanks, Ken

Ken,
When I was a volunteer at the Museum of Yachting in Newport, RI, afew years ago we had a special exhibit of cat boats. The Museum also has several in its permanent collection. Call Matt Gineo at the Museum, 401/847-1018.
You should also visit the Herrishoff (sp?) Museum in Bristol, RI. I recall that they have some cat boats, rigged and inside.

Hi Ken - I guess things didn't go for you this past Sunday as they didn't go for me... I was supposed to call Ian, but I ended up with Zach, who wasn't feeling so hot (and neither was I, later :( ).
I'd like to try to help you out, but can't this weekend. Where are you located (noting your area code I'm concerned about possible logistics issues, but I'm guessing that you are local, at least for the moment)

Hi gang.
I hooked up with Ken on Sunday and we had some fun doping out the rig. Ken's given thought to the total meaning of life, strip planking and chaos theory and come to the conclusion that launching in the spring is a better idea. So, no haste.
Ken strikes me as a good addition to the woodenboat crowd - gentle enough to do things smart rather than just bulling through, brave enough to ask questions, and other good qualities.
Maybe he'll fall in with the Mystic plan and we'll get at least the southern new england (Long Island counts as part of Connecticut so's Don can come over as well) gang together for some gunnel to gunnel truth and lie swapping . . .
