Commander Hadfield is a national treasure. Be nice to see him displace our reigning BM, sorry, PM, on a pro-science ticket.

Loved it. And, his comments were spot on too.

So I'm still not sure. Is that paper the Canadian version of The Onion? Or was that report true?

(Later)
Okay. It's Canada's "Onion". Thankfully not true. (but funny). :)

His discription of Earth speeding by on the left with the void of space on the right gave me chills. 92 sunrises in 15 hours. That would be something to see.

Is this an interview?

There's a bit of the poet philosopher in at least one astronaut...

"The contrast of your body and your mind inside ... essentially a one-person spaceship, which is your spacesuit, where you're holding on for dear life to the shuttle or the station with one hand, and you are inexplicably in between what is just a pouring glory of the world roaring by, silently next to you — just the kaleidoscope of it, it takes up your whole mind. It's like the most beautiful thing you've ever seen just screaming at you on the right side, and when you look left, it's the whole bottomless black of the universe and it goes in all directions."

Very cool but after reading this it just further reinforces how incredibly brave/macho/crazy the Mercury Astronauts were.

Great video too!

Terri Gross is a pitiful interviewer, with pedestrian abilities, but thankfully Hadfield took control and made an excellent radio show out of pure fluff....
I really wish they'd bring back TOTN.i've always liked terri gross, but i really miss Neal Conan

Now, for the rest of us, can you explain WHY he was so awesome? And what it was he did, to make you feel that way? and who the hell is he?

Norman there is life outside politics, you ought to be ashamed that you don't know who Commander Hadfiield is, and as has been noted, he's the brother of a forum member.

I know people disagree with you at their peril, bring on thr peril. I thought she conducted a great interview.

I worry about Commander Hadfield though, he may be booted out of Canada, he never said ""ay" once ay.

I saw Gravity. Then I went looking on youtube for how they made the movie and came across Chris Hadfield with Barenaked Ladies and I.S.S. How cool is that!?
