OK, first of all, I'm not a fan of baseball. I'm baseball neutral. I don't like or dislike it, just am indifferent to it.

But, being a patriotic American, I felt it my civil duty to watch a few minutes of the World Series.

What's with the wacky beards on everyone?? Not just beards, but really weird ones. When did this trend start?

And why is this the only thing I have to think about on a Saturday night??

In the 2004 world series, the Sox were self-described "Idiots"...this was the team that came back from a 0-3 deficit against the Yankees and then won the world series.

In the 2007 WS, the theme was "Cowboy Up"

This year it is the "Beard", although I don't think their best reliever (Japanese) can grow one.

No rhyme or reason for any of this, only some sort of team solidarity thing.

You channeling John Smith tonight?

Go Sox!

"In the days before television, when vaudeville and baseball were America's unrivaled pastimes, the most popular barnstorming team was the House of David club."
