and heres his comments...
>>> yesterday a guy called me and asked for me e-mail adress, because he saw
my ship, thought it very good looking and made some pictures of me and
SIONNACHAN speeding into Flensburg harbour.
You probably know how frustrating it is when you go full speed (in my case
unbelievable 6,5 kn) and wish you could make pictures from "outside" while
also enjoying sailing - well this time someone sent me this guy who took
those cool pictures.
...still shaking with delight... Martin" <<<<

Thanks for posting this (although you didn't ask me ;) ).
We do had a great time sailing, esspecially that windy day. Every Yacht on the way had stored away their Main or sailed reefed. Not us though! But to tell you the truth we did have some ugly situations out of the bay with waves rising up to 5ft (not those long NorthSea or Atlantic waves but those hard and tricky Baltic waves). At those times when we were washed I definetely wished I had reefed.
But then - we grinded on our teeth and pretended to be cool - and thats what it looked like from the outside - and...I think by the look of my ship with her 4,5 ton on 24' length I think she can handle much more.

It's great when that happens Martin. Looks very fine.
We literally went for 16 years with perhaps 6 or 8 photo's being taken of us and forwarded by one means or another. AND THEN we changed to gaff rig.
You'll find a lot more coming in Martin.
I've got photo's coming out of my ears now ,helicopter shots, we've been on a magazine cover, had a video made of us and at the last Americas cup, had photo boats come up beside us on the way home. Talk about unnerving. 8 or 10 great big lenses being poked at you.
Get used to it :D

In my case being "harrased" by photographers is very unlikely, since I own the least interessting vessel in the Museumharbour. there are a lot of older, nicer, bigger or stranger ships than mine.
On the other hand my boat seems to be the cute, small Gaff-rigged vessel even normal "Yachties" can understand and value. Although I have the same amount of ropes which makes a Gaff-rigged boat so incomprehensible for a "Yachty" it is still in the same size (even smaller) than the normal fiberglass-yacht.
John -don't you feel kind of examined when helicopters fly circles around you? I had an old coffee-stained T-Shirt on and wondered how that will look on the picture - not that I am usually a vain person.

Examined?... By the people on the am cup photo boats.. yes, that was weird for sure. The helicopter? no, we really had our hands full that day and we were more interested in the manouvres of the machine than anything else. good way to get people to look at the camera though.
It was a 35 gust 40 day and this guy was in a wee Robinson hanging in front of our bow and then did a kind of part roll so that I could look up through my mast head and straight through both doors of the chopper, and then down to 15 or 20 ft off the waves off our lee quarter.
" what sort of pilot does that in that?" I asked the photograper.
"Vietnam vet" he said.
I sailed in the Herreshoff P-class JOYANT yesterday racing from Bristol to Newport topsail set til the final windward work when the SW wind kicked in, we were "harrassed" a number of times by people taking pictures. Some ride! Fun making her go!

O wow.
WOW is right John. I wish I had the pictures to post. What a beautiful ride, great crew, the owner a good fellow and good skipper, what a boat! Lots of fun!
