That looks like something huisjen would do. He used to take his 7.5 foot Ensign's Gig out into Commencement Bay to play with the container ships.

I just forward the Opti. Pix to a friend of mine who owns a sailing school that has a fleet of optis.

My only issue with optis in those conditions is that the safety boat (and yes, optis always need a safety boat) will lose sight of a capsized boat in the wave troughs.

I never realized that Optis were so... aquabatic. That's some impressive dinghy handling.

IIRC those photos were taken at the oPti worlds in Rio a few years back. The kids had a ball, by all accounts.
