Do you cover your AC condenser in the off season?
Rationale? (apart from the fact that they're expensive and tarps are cheap)

I used to - but just got a heat pump. The installer told me just to keep it clear of snow and ice.

Here in God's Country, where the summer breeze is always cool and sweet, we don't need no stinkin' air conditioners. But.... a huge pile of firewood is necessary in winter!

However, when I lived in the hellish summer climate of Long Island, N.Y., I would cover my condenser. Don't know if it did any good, but I did.

Mine's covered all year long........ (Assuming bittersweet, blackberry, and honeysuckle count as "cover")

Don't cover the whole unit. You could put something just on the top to reduce debris falling into the unit. I use a sheet of ply with some small blocks the hold the sheet about and inch off the top. I have a grouping of redbuds next to the units that shade the units during the summer months when they are in use.
