...only 48 hours. That's how long it took for hackers to get around the much touted Apple biometrics on the new iPhone.

No surprise.

Of course, anyone who really wants to get into your system can do so. Fingerprint authentication is good because if it works reliably, it'll replace the simple password that most people don't have on their phones. Imperfect security that people use is much better than perfect security people ignore. It won't deter a determined cracker, but it will stop your drinking buddies from sending a text message to your SO that you've come out of the closet and want to break up.

I couldn't agree more.

Two out of the last three laptops I've owned had biometrics and I preferred it to typing a password, it's by no means bullet proof though.
