Larry is working on a revision to his book - or perhaps, better stated, a Volume II. He indicated last fall that he is looking to broaden the scope a bit to incorporate fitting wooden decks to glass/alu/steel hulls, for instance.

He holds strong opinions on glues, for sure.

Cheers,

In the introduction , I think it was, of the 1999 revised edition I just read LP talks about a vol II that would cover decks, interior, fitting out, etc. But have searched and can not find this vol. Perhaps this is what you are talking about.

I believe he intended a later volume to begin with. He did call his book, "Details of Classic Yacht Construction - THE HULL." I think his book is one of the best. It did leave me wishing that he would have addressed the rest of the construction details in greater depth. I'd like to see more on decks, deck furniture, interior joinery and the rig. Hope he has it out soon!

I asked Larry about volume 2 last year, he said "I have plans to write the book, but don't hold your breath waiting for it, it took me 10 years to write the first book." So I pleaded please write the book.

Lin is poking at him a bit and Larry does seem to be well into the researching side of things for it. We were sketching hull-to-deck joints on napkins on the COHO this fall, just before they returned to NZ.

The publishing of such a large book takes quite a while as we all know...so I kind of think that Larry's book is a couple of years from our bookshelves, given all of their other projects.

Bummer. Craig. Tell him, were waiting ! I know I would sure like to see it, especially if it is based on Taleisin, since I will probably build that boat after I finish the day boat. Like to see how it all comes togeather.
