Anybody else able to see the launch tonight? I was able to see at least 3 stage separations as the thing headed off in what looked to be an easterly path over the Atlantic. Pretty impressive.

I am just north of Richmond VA and was able to see it. I had to go up to a pasture behind the house to get a good eastern view. I tried to get a few pictures, shooting 30 second exposures, but I don't have much experience with night photography. I lightened these up a bit.

I'd like to hear some more about this event.

Who, what, where and why.

Saw the middle of it over the trees about 5 miles from the house. Second to third stage separation and burn. Very cool.

If you live so close to the launch pad, maybe you could answer one or two of the questions I posted?

Thanks bogdog.

So the purpose of this satellite is to measure dust in the lunar atmosphere.

Why?
