A good read but has nothing to do with the post EXCEPT I was wondering if any of y'all could educate me on the uses of sassafrass on a boat. I'm thinking planking but any info would be nice. Thanks!

I asked this same question awhile back:

I found a source for Sassafras in 12 foot lengths in the midwest, sales@schallerhardwood.com. From what I gather, it is not a common wood that you can find long clear lengths of. I have not bought anything from this company and do not know anything about this company. I just came across them when I was looking for western red cedar.

thanks for the replies and the link. Sounds like it's not bad for structural uses as well as planking. I live in the southern appalachains where we make tea out of the stuff. I've never seen a tree more than a foot in diameter but I've got a source for 7 inch wide boards in 12 foot lengths. That and local white oak will make this project a locally sustainable one. Thanks again.
