Hey gang--
Making a short trip to Philly next week and am looking for sites to see having to do with wooden boats. I'll hit the seaport museum, for sure, but are there any other hotspots? Any boatyards around there that anyone knows of? I'll be packing the camera gear (quality this time, not like Cancale) so I may put up some pics if I get any decent ones. Thanks in advance for any input!

The liberty bell. There's a family connection so whenever anyone asks what to see in Philly I have to push it...

If you'll be dining, Bookbinders.

There is Gazela of Philadelphia , (a barquentine getting a new deck in public view), the Mushulu, pine point marina over in Camden (a great wooden boat marina to poke around), Hooters is on an old ferry there in Philly, the philadelphia wooden boat factory, in April, I think, Amistad is visting Philly, the philadelphia shipyard...

Bookbinders is going out of business. It may still be open for a while. Don't know.

Check out

or the Independence Seaport museum. They have a boat building shop and it's open during the week, not sure about weekends.

If you like naval ships, the USS New Jersey(open to the public) (next to the New Jersey Aquarium) is just across the Delaware River by ferry. Get the ferry at the Seaport Museum.

If you like art, the Fine Arts Museum is great. That's where Rocky ran up the step in the movie.

Have fun.
