Successive Australian governments have brown nosed to the US since WW2 and we're half way across the world. Canada suffers from being next door and it strikes me that Harper is well in the brown nose mould of politican as well.

I do not think that cross-border law enforcement initiatives are anything new. The linked article is pretty much an editorial.

This article, from the Canadian Press, via HufPo explains things a bit better. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/07/30/border-security-us-police-legal-exemptions_n_3678240.html

You live thousands of miles away, yet you'd call our Prime Minister Harper a "Brown Noser"!

How astute of you.

That time that you invaded and tried to take over Canada, but didn't?

Probably just the ground work for American troops on Canadian soil. Not a threat to sovereignty, of course.

The Fenians would have won if they hadn't been so inebriated all the time.

So we hold our liquor better too.

Haven't read the second link but one of the conditions not mentioned was the US LEOs wanting immunity from Canadian law while on our soil. **** Harper! He is selling our country by the pound turning us into an international joke.

Mind blowing. Of course the host country's laws should prevail. Canada should tell the US to take a long walk off a short pier if Homeland Security wont agree to it.

And here I thought HS just wanted to run the US.....

For the life of me I cannot think of any situation or circumstance where the host countries laws have not held precedent. Like the establishment of DEA offices here, I believe that once the story has fizzled out it will ever so quietly become so.

Just another in a long list of missteps that will brand Harper as one of the worst PMs we've ever had.

It's all over Canadian network news and papers... it has absolutely nothing to do with the HP. You really need to temper that reaction a little Jamie...

That's Not true, and you know it!
You know what it's called when you know something is not true but say it anyway?
Hint...it stars with "L" and ends with "E"!:)
Try to do better!
Make me proud of you....

Canadian cops don't belong in the USA

No they don't. They break into homes and grab guns. Just wouldn't do.

From the Calgary Herald:

(http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/alberta/story.html?id=8588851) ‘Hell to pay:’ Residents angry as RCMP seize guns from High River homes (http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/alberta/story.html?id=8588851)

I don't recall seeing a bilge thread on that event. I read somewhere else that they nabbed over 500 firearms from the community.

Mainly because most Canadians understand the need for the police to secure poorly stored firearms in an emergency.

Bit of a difference between High River and New Orleans, now that you mention it. Y>

Bit of an understatement.

My Ivy League/prepper cousin was attending a regatta near 'Norlens' and whilst touring the town with his LaCoste clad crewmates, was accosted by some local toughs. It must have been doubly painful for these Louisans to have the sh*t kicked out of them by bleach blonde Canadians in pink bermuda shorts and Sebagos.
