Got married.
Didn't mention it before--'twas a secret, you see. 'Tisn't now. Katie and I met and dated in high school 40 years ago. We both stumbled to this rock a few years back, met again four years ago, got hitched last Saturday in front of the fireplace, children and grandchildren attending.
I'm still grinning.

Congratulations!
I love stories like these. Sometimes it seems like people who are right for each other need to go away for a while so they can each get to the [metaphysical] place they need to be to be with each other.
Good luck and best of wishes.

Um, no, but she's better at handling big twin-screw barstools than I. She's a marvel. I'm the better sailor though. I think there may need to be a motorsailer in our future. :D

"Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea betwenen the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not form one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each others's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand togeher yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each others shadow." Kahlil Gibran
"I wish you enough" Sorry, I don't know the source on that one.
Best to you both! smile.gif
Blessings to you both, and your families!

Hot Dog!!! There seems to be a lot of this going around these days (he says with a grin as he looks at the ring on his finger :D ). Having met Katie at one of the PSEBS gatherings I have to commend the universe for bringing the two of you together. Felicitations! Will we see you at Wooden Boat Festival? We'll have Victoria in the show again this year.

Break her in easy with the boat...don't scare her, start small and maybe she will suggest that you need a bigger boat for all the critters and grandcritters...... :D :D

Don't need to Pal; she's the one who seems to think standing headroom, enclosed head, double berth, and a half-acre of deck are essentials. She seems attracted to traditional gaffers. Our first sail together was the jollyboat out of Bellingham during the schooner race at the Wooden Boat Fesetival in Port Townsend. I half expected her to hate sailing, but she loved it--even enjoyed the pulling part of that wonderous craft.
How'd I get so lucky?

Congratulations! :D I have to agree with her on all the requirements for a boat!
Standing headroom for Charles (all 6'-4") of him is the tricky part ;)
High school sweethearts don't get older - they just get sweeter - I married mine, too ;)
Happy sailing!! smile.gif
Its the people with the low bank waterfront right below the people with the high bank waterfront who will be in trouble hehe

Kermitt- You inspire me with that story- As it turns out, I'm getting married this SATURDAY to my navigator- Gwen. She's Navy, I'm Army. We will be married on the quarterdeck of the USS Constellation in Baltimore's inner harbor.

Wow! Congratulations Kermit and Katie! Wonderful story. ("And another thing..." indeed.)
And congratulations to Dale. Good idea about the navigator.
O happiness, happiness!
