That displaces Araminta as the boat that I lust for the most.

Would you antifoul her, or just keep on with the twice-weekly scrubbings?

Would you antifoul her, or just keep on with the twice-weekly scrubbings?Well, firstly. . . I'd return her to her rightful place on Lake Michigan. . .;)

Firstly, she is awesome. I agree, she is absolutely first rate. Secondly, is that a stuffed moose sitting near the companionway?

I have been doing some serious lusting myself these days, but you guys know all about that.

Interesting.... it appears that both sets of running backs are lead to the single coaming winch.
That must be an interesting little dance before a quick-tack. Good thing all of the sails are self-tacking, eh?

yeah, dennis was my first thought too, but he was too specific about the companionway :)

If I know DC at all he is just going to say 'tacking' or something like that as he begins swinging the tiller. He ain't worried about no stinking runner winches.

First thing I'd do is pop that eagle off the transom and putty the holes.

First thing I'd do is pop that eagle off the transom and putty the holes.I tend to not like that kind of stuff either. But its only been there since 1920 so in this case I might leave it. . .

I dislike her rig. Wish she was a gaffer.

I'd stick with Araminta, imagine feeding all that crew at some remote anchorage, and the racket they would make...

Single winch per side. Two runners per side.

Very traditional. Great lines. Rather crowded. I love it! Not sure how I feel about the runners.

No, she was, and your old photo proves my point. This is how she looked when she was relaunched after Connors restored/rebuilt her.

This how she looks now, sporting an abominable assortment of j boat spars and sails. . .

So what do you think DC's woodenboat forum login is? schoonerruse perhaps?? Maybe he gets a kick out of giving Aussies a hard time, farfalla? :D

Crowninshield had a good eye-they should have kept it original.Araminta still has it.

I'd just send all those folks off to the support boat once I got to a nice quite anchorage. Then send the support boat off, too. ;)

First thing I'd do is dump 7 slabs of meat off the rail. What do you suppose they're all looking at?..... The mother ship "GOODYEAR" blimp?

She'd be a great single or 2 handed boat.Crowninshield designed Fame for his own use as a single handed daysailor.

Funny, I didn't really know anything about Fame, and Dingo was always going on and on about her. I was spending some time in this little small town outside of Savannah several years ago and visiting the library I found a pamphlet sewn into a John Leather book that had her lines plan, no offsets or dimensions even. I scanned them and emailed them to Dingo and promptly lost my copy of them. Someday I should go back and check that book out again. . .
