You know, there are modern mono designs that sail a lot faster and are safe and very strong.
i stumbled on a video of a slo about 45 ft somewhere North Atlantic area, solidly, safely, maintaining a speed 18 to 20.
no drama no fuss, occasionally a little water on board. Then they would ease the boom vang for a moment and continue.
i love wooden boats, I built fig59 in chapelle American small sailing craft. They are beautiful,warm , and sail well , but there are modern ones that sail better if you want to push them and do that.
