When you buy tools like this, I guess you can't afford a table......or chairs.......or a rug for the floor.....or wood to work with......

Now if we had our late master boat builder here, he would say that a $10 ebay plane and a few hours of "fettling" would yield the same.

Sometimes I miss the guy.

I just looked at the Holtey web site. He no longer publishes a price list, but he says the prices range from "around 2500 pounds and rise to around 7000 for the large panel planes." That is —not counting any custom duties —about (US$) $3900 to $10,800.

I'd have one of his planes in a second...if I had that much money to spend on tools. Quite apart from the superb craftsmanship, they are very good investments. Take a look at the prices fetched by old Norrises or Spiers planes.
