If you don't get any good responses let me know, as there are several Yahoo groups for small boats that have some SD folks as active posters.

My boating / watersports activities there was FAR too long ago, and you want current info and locations.

Do you know about the SCSBMS? Southern California Small Boat Messabout Society.

"The purpose of SCSBMS is to encourage the design, building, restoration, and use of small boats, by promoting gatherings of its members at small boat messabouts. A messabout provides a congenial social setting for nurturing and sharing our enthusiasm for small boats.
- Founder, Joe Tribulato"

Sailin' around is great, tho' it's a narrow bay, depending on your size..If you get pressed for somewhere to hang, the transient dock(police) at the end of Shelter Island will allow you up to 10 days stay.....A little north, we drop the hook occaisionally in Mission Bay; Mariner's Cove, good for up to 72 hours........great swimming and a nice little beach...Beating upstream a little, Oceanside is great, with a few nice guestdocks.
