I found Kaa's latest thread about Toponyms fascinating and did a little exploring into the subject.

One link lead to another until I was reading about people from Liverpool being referred to as "Liverpudlians", which most of us are aware of, however I was surprised to see that the nickname for residents of Brighton is "Gay Boys", and not necessarily for their lighthearted demeanours.
