Wonderful Mark...great photos...the big barge loads blow me away..how they avoid the ever changing sandbars is a wonder...and when they do go hard aground plowing up with the force of many tons, how do they get free again??
KEEP UP THE LOG....ITS A FUN READ...almost feel I'm there with you. What is your next boat project...you must have something in mind.

Sorry to dissapoint you droolers, but that dinghy is fiberglass. The women is my sister, who came down to visit for a while.
I've just crossed the state of Florida on the Okeechobee waterway. It is a pretty boring trip, lots of dead Austrailian pine trees. Apperantly, they are trying to get rid of the "non native" plants.

Hey Mark,
I noticed from your web page that you use a composting head on your boat. Whats your opinion of these expensive newfangled contraptions? Are they really the way to go?
I plan to someday cruise the intercoastal, maybe do the loop, just my wife and I. Am wondering if a composting head will work for say two adults on a fulltime basis?

I don't thin a the composting head is adequate for two people full-time, it is barely adequate for one. It is difficult to get the right mixture of peat moss to get it to work right, you need a place to store the peat moss mix, and you need to find a way to take care of excess liquid. I have learned to live with mine, but I don't think it is much of an improvement over conventional systems.
