That's it? On that boat you guys carry five people?

The 60' IOR boat that I used to sail on we carried 18, and we all had plenty to do.

5 pull up the anchors by hand

1 on tiller, 2 on the gaff throat, 2 on the gaff peak and hoist mainsail.

jibs and staysail are easy.

1 on job sheets (release and haul in) 1 on staysail sheets, 1 on runner release and 1 on runner winching when tacking/gyping

Could have an extra 2, on the jib and staysail release, and another for mainsheet (but the 2 on jib and staysail haul in main sheet a bit before tacking etc), but any more is rail meat. :ycool:

Interesting set of friends.

Going in order: GoodPhil "Paid by the state to supervise me" - really my rabbi who knows all the secrets and whose discretion is absolute; Susan my kayak buddy and great crew despite the BudLite; Anna "Viking Woman"; and MaryEllen who sails on sunny days when there is no race.

Proving the depth of friendship, winding up one haul out, Susan attacked this:

WOW. How HEAVY are those fish.

30 to 40 punds, live weight. 15 to 20 pounds of filets each. Lots of good eating, there.

Here's another frequent member of the crew, my dad, with albacore:

John-slightly off tgopic but do you have a good pic of your doghouse? I don't much like the look of Balia's and when one day i redo the deck, it might be a god time to change the look of the doghouse. I like that slight lip in the roof.

Yes. A leaky MSR Whisperlite backpacking stove. We didn't set the boat on fire or anything! Made a pot of hot water for coffee, hot chocolate for the boy and oatmeal and went sailing. Sleeping in 10F-rated mummy bags helped a lot with staying warm. Doing a 4-5 day cruise in the panhandle in two weeks. Plan on sleeping aboard every night unless it really rains.
