Still in use in the 1950's along the shores of Long Island, NY.
Gosh were they wet even in a medium sea!

Here's a few leads. Check the Washington Navy Yard. They have all the lines archives for just about everything the Navy ever had, and perhaps the Coast Guard as well. Obviously, contact the USCG. They should have an historical office that may be able to help you. The Oregon Maritime Museum in Astoria, OR, has a large emphasis on similar vessels, being located at the Columbia River Bar. You may also wish to contact the USPS at Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin Co., CA. They have a restored surf boat house and surf boats similar to yours. That should keep you busy. The government is the best source. They seem to keep good records of their boats. If you can identify the vessel by number, they should also have her history on file... where she was posted and what she did and so on.

Looks like a conversion of a 36 footer.
You might check the boat modeling groups. I seem to recall that there was a model kit available at one time.
Or the old magazine files in a liibrary. There was a series on building a model in either Mechanix Illustrated - or Popular Science or Popular Mechanics.
